Among the multitude of issues, goals, targets and priorities on the international development agenda, adolescents – defined by the United Nations as those between 10 and 19 years of age – seldom come first. Particularly when development budgets are constrained, as now, conventional wisdom might dictate devoting most resources to children in the first decade of their lives. Investment in health, nutrition, basic education and protection for younger children has in recent years secured a significantly better start in life for many. With this achievement, however, comes a responsibility to ensure that support for children continues as they grow and develop. Lasting change in the lives of children and young people, a critical underlying motivation of the Millennium Declaration, can only be achieved by complementing the commitment to the first decade of life with recognition of the importance of the second.( UNICEF)
When you choose to sponsor a child you have chosen to help change a child’s life forever. Poverty can be very devastating, and children in poor countries experience generations of the poverty cycle. You can help break this cycle of poverty by helping a poor child experience a better life. Your contribution of just $30 a month – approximately $1 per day - connects a child with a loving home, a positive environment, and provides:
UNICEF reports that 26,500 - 30,000 children will die each day due to poverty. They die quietly in some of the poorest villages on earth, far removed from the eyes of the world. With literally little access to proper health care and nutrition, almost 10 million children die every year due to poverty. Those who are rescued and are helped, have a great opportunity to escape the poverty that kills, and are able to look forward to a better and more productive life. Over the years Operation Good News has worked to give poor children in the tribal villages in India a better life, by helping to provide food, shelter, clothing, and education. Currently our children's home accommodates between 25 to 35 children along with their house parents and family. The house is approximately 1500 square feet or less. The children eat and sleep on benches or on the floor. The hygiene facilities are very limited and over taxed. There is serious over crowding especially when the weather is bad and the children cannot play outside.
Operation Good News is reaching out to build a new home with better facilities for the children. It is very important that we build this home at the present time. Join us in our "Do Something Great!" campaign to build a new home to accommodate these children. Help us give these poor children a better life while they are still young. Help to do something great for those who are less fortunate.

The approximate cost of building this home with the needed amenities is approximately US $100,000. This will provide dorm rooms with proper beds, bathrooms, kitchen, and proper hygiene facilities. It will also provide a dining room, a proper kitchen, and a common room to accommodate the children to do homework, and to relieve over crowding. This is a great opportunity to participate in something that will benefit many poor children for generations to come. Imagine a new home, beds to sleep in, tables to eat on, proper medical care, nutritious meals, a proper place to study, and a brighter future all because you cared. Let God's love for the poor flow through you. Together let's "Do Something Great!"
